How to Melee Enemies in Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE Encore

While this game is an RPG with a classic, turn-based combat system, there’s a very simple melee system in place as well. You can’t actually deal damage to enemies with your melee attacks, but it’s still a very handy feature to keep in mind.

While exploring the dungeons in the game, you’ll encounter large shadowy figures that will trigger a regular enemy encounter once you touch them. However, while you can just start a regular battle by touching them, you can gain a small advantage if you melee them first.

By doing so, you’ll be able to act first during the battle, which means that you can exploit the enemy’s weakness and use Session Attacks to finish the fight quickly.

To use a melee attack, all you have to do is press the X button to have Itsuki swing his sword and hit them. This will cause the enemy figure to fall down on the ground for a few seconds, allowing you to go in for the kill.

If you don’t hit them first, and the battle starts, there’s a chance that the enemies will gain an advantage on you by going first.
