Loot chests in Borderlands 3 continue the tradition of being pretty boxes that give you all the loot you could ever want. With the new DLC, there is a new loot chest unique to the DLC that requires a bit of gambling for the best loot. Borderlands 3 Blackjack Loot Chests

The first blackjack loot chest in the Moxxi’s Heist DLC can be found after the first big open area of the DLC, in front of the massive gold Handsome Jack Statue.

Something a little different from normal chests, but fitting with the DLC theme of money meaning everything, the Blackjack loot chests have cost, scaled with your level.

Once you have paid, the chest will drop two cards, for those who don’t understand blackjack, the idea is to get as close to or exactly 21 without going over. The chest also has a readout that tells you your current total.

Hitting (adding a card to increase total) also costs money, so be wary of your wallet before trying this. If you bust (go over 21) three grenades will drop, similarly to getting a grenade out of a slot machine, but they don’t do as much damage.

The number you stand (choose to stop) on will correspond to your payout. 20 and 21 appear to be purple, and it is unknown if a legendary is possible. Hitting blackjack (21) will also earn you the Shoe Money Tonight achievement/trophy.

However, this chest is in a perfect place free of enemies and has a spawn incredibly close nearby. So if you have the money to spend and the luck on your side, you can easily farm it.

  1. Locate the first chest up the stairs and down a path from the first open area with human enemies.

  2. Press the designated button to choose Deal, which will cost money.

  3. Figure out the best strategy. If you have a number between 16-20, hitting isn’t the best idea unless you want to risk it.

  4. You can simply go to the start menu and exit out and then come right back in and be near the chest.
