Following this week’s Surviving Mars, Observer and Alan Wake’s American Nightmare will be the next free games on the Epic Games Store.
This summer, Epic announced that it would be extending its summer promotion of weekly free games. Previously, free titles were only offered every two weeks.
Despite varying quantities, Epic Games has been very generous with their free titles, and next week is no exception. It may not be 6 Batman titles, but a free game is a free game.
Alan Wake’s American Nightmare is a follow up to it’s critically acclaimed 2010 predecessor, Alan Wake.
While not quite a sequel, this standalone adventure was praised as a change of pace for the franchise. American Nightmare shifts away from the darker themes of Alan Wake, in favor of a far more eccentric and pulpy tone.
The game finds itself framed by an episode of the fictional in-universe Twilight Zone analog, Night Springs, written by Alan Wake himself. This nicely sets the stage for the game’s intense, varied gunplay.
If American Nightmare doesn’t quite scratch your horror itch, Bloober Team’s psychological thriller, Observer, will also be available for download.
Observer is a first person adventure game that stars Rutger Hauer. He voices Daniel Lazarski, a hardboiled detective operating in the neon-lit streets of Krakow, Poland. Set in 2084, players hack into characters’ brains to solve crimes. Twinfinite scored Observer a 2.5/5.
Both of these titles can be claimed at no cost on the Epic Games Store, and can be downloaded via the Epic Games Launcher beginning Oct. 17th.
While you wait, though, be sure to claim this week’s free title, Surviving Mars. Paradox Interactive recently announced that its successor, Surviving Aftermath, will be arriving in late 2020.
Observer and Alan Wake’s American Nightmare can be claimed on the Epic Games Store from Oct. 17th to Oct. 24th.
