Resetting Skill Points & Character Respec in Borderlands 3

A huge part of the fun of Borderlands 3 is the ability to level up and create a vault hunter that fits your particular play style. You have a ton of customization options ranging from different skill trees, action skills, and passive traits that will dramatically effect the way you play.

However, you’re not locked into your choices forever. So if you decide you don’t like something you invested a skill point into as much as you thought you would have from the description, or you just want to try something different, you can respec your skill points for any of your characters in Borderlands 3 as often as you want provided you can pay a nominal fee.

First, head to any Quick-Change Machine and select the ‘Respec’ option. From here you can reset the Skill Points you’ve spent, allowing you to build your character in a new way.

The cost to respec your character depends on the level of your character and the number of skill points you’ve been pouring into your character loadout.

Even then, as long as you’ve been saving cash as you play through, it should never be too expensive for you to afford as long as you’re just doing it every once in a while. It’s just there to discourage people from going nuts constantly changing up their skills. If you’re doing that you will burn through your cash so try to respec only when you really want to.

So in summary,

  1. Head to a Quick-Change Machine found around Borderlands 3

  2. Select Respec option and pay the cash fee

  3. Return to your character’s skill tree and reinvest your points

That’s all you need to know for how to reset your skill points and respec your character in Borderlands 3. For more tips and tricks, be sure to check our our Borderlands 3 wiki guide.
