Astral Chain: How to Use Photo Mode

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

It’s been a good while since we’ve seen a release from Platinum Games, but they’re back with Astral Chain, a brand new third-person action game being released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. Here’s how to use photo mode in Astral Chain.

How to Use Photo Mode in Astral Chain

To unlock photo mode, all you have to do is beat File 01 of the game, which is essentially the first chapter.

Doing so will allow you to start taking in-game photos, and it’s worth noting that this actually has a more practical function than you might expect.

Press the right button on the d-pad to enter photo mode, and you’ll be able to start pointing the camera everywhere and snapping pictures. You can also hit the X button to enter selfie mode, where you can take selfies.

It’s definitely recommended that you take pictures of every new creature and NPC you see. By taking their photos, they’ll get added as new entries into your database, where you can read up on some more additional background info on them.

This can be particularly useful for learning more about an enemy, or a new location you’ve just arrived in.

As you’re aiming the camera, a brown square will appear onscreen, letting you know that snapping a picture will give you a new database entry, so be on the lookout for that.

That’s all you need to know about how to unlock and use photo mode in Astral Chain. Be sure to search for Twinfinite or check our Astral Chain guide wiki for more tips and information on the game. We’ve also listed some other helpful guides for you down below.
