There Are a lot of Different Endings
Man of Medan is a cinematic, choose-your-own-adventure type of horror game, meaning that there are tons of different outcomes and endings that can happen depending on how you decide to play the game.
If you’re planning on having a certain outcome on your first playthrough, be prepared to not succeed because there are twists and turns that make it very hard to keep everyone alive.
The game pretty much wants you, the player, the kill everyone in your group, and the game will make sure that you do.
I recommend just playing without worrying too much what happens the first time and letting Man of Medan’s story just run its course. Once you see how things play out, you can go through scene selection or start fresh to change the narrative to how you want it, if you can figure out the triggers and such.
You Need to Plan Things Out to Save Everyone
As I mentioned before, if you plan on keeping everyone alive or even killing everyone in Man of Medan (because there is a trophy for that), you will have to make mistakes and then go on from there and change the narrative.
Once you have a list of all of the things you need to do to make a certain scenario happen, you just have to make sure that they all go through according to plan.
There were times when I knew what I had to do to get a certain ending but the act of actually doing it was harder than it looked. But when you start playing out scenes over and over again, you’ll eventually figure out what you have to do to make certain events take place.
I recommend taking notes as much as you can. Man of Medan isn’t a super-dense game by any means, but it can help with keeping everything you need to do in line.
Seeing Everything in the Game Will Require Multiple Playthroughs
You won’t see every dialog option and cutscene in just one playthrough of Man of Medan, so if you think that playing this game through one time and one time only will suffice, you are very wrong my friend.
In this six-hour or so long story mode, there will be tons of branching paths and options that you will want to explore in your future playthroughs.
And if you really want to get bang for your buck in Man of Medan, multiple playthroughs are required if you want to see and do everything and if you want to get those trophies and/or achievements.
There Are Lots of Jump Scares
Man of Medan is a horror game, so you can expect a couple of jump scares here and there. The group of friends that you’re playing as begin to see some eerie stuff once they come on board on the Ourang Medan and it can totally mess with your head.
There are creepy kids running about, ghostly figures screaming out of nowhere, bloody toilets, zombified army men, and much more.
If you’re someone who is prone to being scared, I would say that you would be better off checking out Man of Medan’s multiplayer mode so that you don’t have to go at it alone.
