How to Melee in Days Gone

There are plenty of ways to deal with enemies in Days Gone, and you will need to learn how to use them all to survive what the world throws at you. That’s why we’re here to help with a guide on how to melee in Days Gone.

Like most other games, melee attacks work in the way you would expect. Using a knife, blunt object or even you fists, you can deliver a non-projectile attack on enemies at close range.

While not as effective as guns in most cases, these attacks can stagger enemies long enough to reposition yourself out of danger or allow you to deliver a finishing strike to enemies softened up with gunfire.

Also like other games, using them is fairly straightforward and simple once you know what to do.

How to Trigger a Melee Attack

To initiate a melee attack on an enemy in Days Gone, all you have to do is press R2. This will use whichever melee weapon you currently have equipped and deliver a melee attack on any enemy within range.

This remains the case throughout the game, and can be used in almost any situation where you aren’t predisposed by a quick-time event or other gameplay element that would prevent you from using said attacks.

Tips For Using Melee Attacks in Days Gone

As mentioned above though, this type of attack isn’t guaranteed to hit its target. Before using one, make sure the enemy is within range of whichever melee weapon you have equipped.

Likewise, assess whether it would be more beneficial to hit them with a melee attack or to simply finish them off with some gunfire to minimize the risk you pose to yourself.

That’s about all you need to know about how to melee in Days Gone. For more on the game, check out our guide wiki for everything you’ll need to survive the hostile open world.
