Streets of Rage 4

It has been 25 years since we’ve gotten a proper numbered entry in the sidescrolling arcade beat ’em up, Streets of Rage.

Ever since developer Dotemu announced that they, along with Guard Crush games and Lizardcube, would be revitalizing the classic Sega Genesis series with a similar 2D art style, we’ve been so pumped to actually get our hands on it.

Streets of Rage 4 will be playable for the first time at PAX East this upcoming weekend and we can finally see for ourselves if this long gap between Streets of Rage 3 and 4 was worth it.

The sidescrolling beat ’em up genre hasn’t been in vogue for a while, but it’s great to see such an old franchise come back into the spotlight, even if just for a little bit.
