One of the biggest additions to Smash Bros Ultimate are Spirits, a brand new system that lets you equip famous characters on your fighter to boost their stats and add special effects. These Spirits are primarily used in the game’s Adventure Mode, World of Light, but can also be taken online or into Smash battles if you want. Of course, with over 1,000 Spirit to choose from it can be tough to decide which ones you need to use. We’ll help give you a quick list of the best spirits you can get in Smash Bros Ultimate.

Keep in mind that we haven’t discovered every Spirit in Smash Bros Ultimate, as we’re currently sitting at around 850. If you have any other good suggestions that we missed, feel free to drop them in the comments down below!

Camus (Evolves into Sirius) – 3 Star Into 4 Star

  • Found in World of Light or randomly on the Adventure Board.
  • When fully evolved and powered up, Sirius has one of the highest power scores in the entire game, at 11,166.
  • Also boost weapon attack, allowing for deadly combinations with support spirits.
  • Has three support slots.

Alucard – 4 Star

  • Found in World of Light at the end of the Dracula’s Castle dungeon, or randomly on the Spirit Board.
  • When fully leveled has base power of 10,458.
  • Has Sword Attack Up skill, boosting the power of fighters like Link and Marth.
  • Has three support slots.

Skull Kid (Evolves into Skull Kid & Majora’s Mask) – 2 Star Into 4 Star

  • Found in World of Light in the Sacred Grounds dungeon, or randomly on the Spirit Board.
  • When fully leveled up, has base power of 11,471.
  • Incredibly useful Lifesteal skill that saps health from the opponent on every hit you land.
  • Has two support slots.

M. Bison – Four Star

  • Found in World of Light by beating all other opponents in the Street Fighter World Tour dungeon, or randomly on the Spirit Board.
  • When fully leveled up, has base power of 10,469.
  • Psi Attack up skill that increased the power of Ness and Lucas’ Psi attacks.
  • Three support slots.

Shadow (Evolves into Super Shadow) – 3 Star Into 4 Star

  • Found in the Dark Realm in World of Light, or randomly on the Spirit Board.
  • Fully leveled up has base power of 11,954.
  • Undamaged Attack & Speed up skill, that can give you a nice boost at the start of a battle.
  • Has two support slots.

Dracula (Evolves into Soma Cruz) – 3 Star Into 4 Star

  • Found in the Dark Realm of World of Light, or randomly on the Spirit Board.
  • Fully leveled up has base power of 12,110 (highest we’ve found so far).
  • Giant Killer Skill, can be instrumental when fighting Spirit Battles against giant characters.
  • Three support slots.

Madama Butterfly -4 Star Support

  • Found in Dark Realm in World of Light, in the final area with Ghaleem and Dharkon. Or randomly on Spirit Board.
  • Takes up three slots.
  • Poison Heals skill totally negates poison spirit battles, healing you instead of damaging.

Hector – 3 Star Support

  • Found in World of Light or randomly on the Spirit Board.
  • Takes up two slots.
  • Unflinching Charge Smashes ability. Gives you super armor whenever you’re charging a Smash attack.

Sheriff and/or Pyra- 4 Star Support

  • Found in World of Light, Sheriff is in the chest on the very top left of the World of Light map. In the brown section just underneath the snowy section. Also randomly on the Spirit Board.
  • Both take up one support spirit slot.
  • Assist Killer skill, can be instrumental whenever you’re in a match against an Assist Trophy character, letting you kill them much quicker.

King Hippo – 3 Star Support

  • Found outside the Punch-Out gym in the city section of World of Light, or randomly on the Spirit Board.
  • Takes up one support slot.
  • Shield Durability Up skill, boosting the amount of damage you can take with your shield. This skill can be a big help during some of the tougher boss battles, letting you soak up more damage from hard-to-dodge attacks.

Ana, Dark Mind, or Sebastian Tute – 2 Star Support

  • Found in World of Light or randomly on the Spirit Board.
  • All three take up two support slots.
  • Franklin Badge Equipped skill, letting you start the battle with a Franklin Badge. This skill is absolutely crucial for any battles where the enemy spirit has projectiles, like Ray Guns or Curry Breath. The badge will let you reflect the projectiles.

Celebi – 4 Star Support

  • Found in World of Light, the forest section of the Sacred Grounds dungeon in the Dark Realm. Or randomly on the Spirit Board.
  • Takes up three support slots.
  • Grants Great Autoheal skill, makes boss battles significantly easier. The Spirit constantly heals you for a good amount every five seconds.
