Destiny 2: How to Get the Mysterious Box & What It’s For

How to Get the Mysterious Box and What It’s For in Destiny 2

The Black Armory mini expansion is finally available for Destiny 2, and with it comes the new Season of the Forge. Along with new activities to help you grind up to the new Power cap, there are also new Exotic weapons and armor to look out for. One of these is tied to the Mysterious Box. Here’s how to get the Mysterious Box in Destiny 2, and how to use it.

First off, you’ll need to head to the Volundr Forge. After accepting the quest from Spider, then locating the armory in the Tower, you’ll be sent to the EDZ to look for the Forge. The Forge can be found near the Sunken Isles spawn point on the EDZ, just southeast of the icon, in Smidur’s Cavern.

Once in the Cavern, instead of going to the Forge, keep heading straight and jump off the ledge at the end. Then, turn around and enter the hidden cave. At the end of the cave, you’ll find a Black Armory chest that contains the Mysterious Box.

The Mysterious Box description in Destiny 2 is as follows:

‘An ornate box with four locks. Each lock has a different symbol emblazoned on it: a hand, a butterfly, a fishhook, and a Black Armory insignia.’

You’ll then need to find a way to open all four locks. Unfortunately, this is where we’re stuck. At the time of writing, the Destiny 2 community has yet to figure out how exactly to open the locks on the Mysterious Box.

It seems obvious that this item is tied to an Exotic quest, and we’ll be sure to update this post with more info and the solution once we figure it out.
