Pokemon Let’s Go Beginner Tips
Capture Everything
One of the biggest changes in Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee is in the way the leveling system works. Unlike in past games, there are no wild battle encounters here. You’ll still see random critters popping up in the environment, and you can run into them to trigger an encounter. However, you can’t fight them, and your only option is to capture them.
This makes things a little more streamlined, as you no longer have to worry about your own team members running out of PP for specific moves. Furthermore, whenever you catch a wild Pokemon, all your team members get shared experience. There are still trainer battles in Pokemon Let’s Go, but catching wild monsters is the best way to level up quickly.
To level up efficiently, you’ll want to look out for Pokemon with blue or red auras surrounding them. The blue aura means that particular creature is tinier than usual, while the red means it’s bigger than usual. You’ll get a size bonus multiplier for catching these creatures, in addition to bonuses you get from Nice, Great, and Excellent throws.
In addition to that, catching multiple of the same Pokemon in a row will also give you a bonus experience multiplier. So if you’re looking to level grind, keep capturing the same Pokemon over and over again.

Feed Your Pokemon with Candies
If you feel like your Box is filling up too quickly from all the wild creatures you keep catching, the good news is that you can send your unwanted Pokemon to Professor Oak with the press of a button. From your main menu, access your Pokemon Box, and select the ones you want to send to Oak. Not only will this help to de-clutter your Box, you’ll also get some handy rewards in return.
For every creature you send back, Oak will give you some candies, which can be fed to your Pokemon to increase their stats. For instance, Quick Candy can be used to improve a Pokemon’s agility stat, which allows them to act faster during battle.
If you’re planning on raising the ultimate pocket monster for competitive battles in the game, candies are a great way to help keep your stats in check. And, of course, Rare Candies are still in the game, just in case you need to level up your Pokemon quickly.

Look Out for Coach Trainers
New in Pikachu and Eevee are the inclusion of coach trainers. They’re kind of similar to the alpha trainers we saw in Sun and Moon, except you’re no longer required to beat every single trainer in the area before you’re allowed to face them.
Coach trainers are much tougher than your regular, run-of-the-mill trainer, and they give you more experience as well. They’re easily recognizable by their dark green jackets, so make sure to speak to them whenever you spot them in an area.
In addition to just giving you more experience points, they’ll also shower you with gifts if you manage to defeat them. This includes candies, items, and Poke Balls. If you’re looking for some moderately tough challenges to spice up your Kanto journey, these guys are good for that.

Get the Three Starter Pokemon
Depending on which version of the game you get, Pokemon Let’s Go will allow you to have either Pikachu or Eevee as your starter Pokemon. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t go and get the original three starters.
Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur can all be found in the wild. However, there’s a much easier and better way to get them. There are three NPCs in Kanto who will give these Pokemon to you, provided you meet the criteria.
Bulbasaur can be found in the house directly left of the Poke Center in Cerulean City, Charmander can be found at Route 24, while Squirtle can be found in Vermillion City by talking to Officer Jenny. You’ll need to catch a certain number of Pokemon in order to get the three starters, but this shouldn’t be too tough, as the Pokemon species doesn’t matter; the game’s only looking at actual quantity, so catch as many as you can.
The stats on the three starters you get from the NPCs are usually better than the ones you can find in the wild as well, so it’s definitely worth trying to get them this way.
