How to Tame Animals in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is full of activities for you to explore as you traverse the world of Ancient Greece. You’ll find treasure, bounties, and secrets to discover along your journey as either Alexios of Kassandra. Whether it’s the combat, stealth, or naval combat that keeps you invested in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey there is something here for everyone. One of the biggest parts of Assassin’s Creed this year is taming animals. Here’s what you need to know about how to tame animals in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

A tamed animal will help fight alongside of you and aid you in your journey across Ancient Greece. Taming these wild beasts are no easy challenge. First you will have to acquire the ability in the Hunter’s Skill tree to be able to befriend some beasts. Once you’ve acquired it you’ll be able to get to wolves at first and eventually larger creatures as you pump more skill points into the ability.

In order to actually tame the animal, though, you must knock it out and then simply go over to the animal and hold either X on PlayStation 4 or A if you’re on Xbox One. Once you’ve successfully done this, it will stick by your side and help you when you get into trouble. The most rewarding part of taming an animal, however, is the ability to pet your new friend.

Petting your new pal can be done by crouching next to the animal and waiting. After enough time you’ll start to pet the animal if it’s still within reach. This allows you to take a break from all the killing and bloodshed to just have a nice bonding moment between you and your animal friend. Just don’t get too attached in case something goes awry and you can’t save your new best friend.

Taming animals can be very helpful, as well. They can join you in battle, and even serve as a distraction whenever you’re overwhelmed by enemies. Many high-level mercenaries in the game will also be bringin’ with them a furry companion.

Because of this, it might be wise to get some of your own and bring them to even the odds. After all, you wouldn’t want to take down a mercenary, just to get mauled to death by their pet bear immediately after that.

That said, the ability isn’t exactly one of the most crucial ones you need in the game. We advise getting your other melee and assassination skills first before thinking about this one. That should make your journey in the game much more manageable and bearable.

And that’s pretty much all you need to know about how to tame animals in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Have fun roaming the world with your new furry friend.
