With the Assassin’s Creed series moving more into the RPG realm, there are a number of features fans may be unfamiliar with. In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the ability to respec character abilities and reset ability points is entirely new. It also makes your playthrough considerably easier if you use it effectively. Here’s how to reset ability points and respec your character in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. But first, do you even need to? Well, let’s find out.

How to Check Your Abilities in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Before you just go ahead and reset ability points in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, make sure that it makes sense for you to do so. Open up the Abilities menu by pressing the touchpad on PS4 (or Menu button on Xbox One). From here, use R1 or RB to tab over to Abilities.

Now you can take a look and see how you’ve spent your ability points thus far. You may need to reset your stuff if you come across a quest that forces you to play a little differently. For example, if you tend not to be a stealthy assassin, but must be for a particular quest, you may want to go ahead and reroll your character, so to speak.

Use the left analog stick to flick through the different abilities you’ve purchased. If there are some you think should be switched out for others which would be more useful, then you’re making the right decision to give your abilities a spring clean.

To actually do this, you want to stay on that Abilities screen, unsurprisingly. Before you press anything, you’ll want to look in the bottom right of the screen. Here, you should see Reset Abilities with a numerical figure next to it.

If you hadn’t guessed, that’s how much money (Drachmae) it’s going to cost you in order to do this. If you don’t have enough, you’ll need to venture back out into the world. We’ve got a guide on how to get money fast, should you need a helping hand.

Now, all you need to do is press down the L3 button. This requires you to click in your left analog stick until you hear a click. It’s the same input for both Xbox One and PS4, too. Confirm that this is what you want to do, and you’ll soon see all of the ability points you’d previously poured into the tree return to your Available points tally on the right.

With all of your ability points reset, you’re now free to go ahead and spend ability points as you usually would. We recommend making a list of the abilities you may want to keep or purchase to avoid any accidental ability purchases.

That’s all there is to reset ability points and respec character abilities in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. For more tips, tricks, and guides, be sure to check our Assassin’s Creed Odyssey wiki guide.
