How to Change Difficulty in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Looking for how to change difficulty in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey? Here’s how to do it.

Since Assassin’s Creed Origins revamped the combat mechanics and introduced RPG elements, the series has become fairly more difficult combat-wise, and as a result many people are looking to make it a bit easier after they’ve bitten off more than they can chew.

Thankfully, the option to change difficulty which was added in Origins has carried over to Odyssey as well. With this, you can choose to make each encounter very easy or brutally difficult.

To change difficulty in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, bring up the main menu. To do this, you’ll need to press the touchpad on PS4 or Menu button on Xbox One, and then press left on the d-pad. From here, you’ll need to select the Settings option. You’ll now need to navigate to the gameplay tab and pick your preferred difficulty option. The difficulty will change after you reload the game.

The rarity of loot, acquired resources, and experience points earned per battle largely remains the same across the board. Trophies are not affected either, so you won’t even have to worry about doing a second playthrough of the game if you want that platinum.

You should only pick the highest difficulty option if you’re looking for a challenge. There are no extra in-game rewards for opting for a harder experience. Be sure to keep this in mind before starting your adventure on the highest difficulty setting.

As you raise the difficulty, enemies will have more health and will deal greater damage. Aside from these changes, the entire experience should feel the same across the board. In addition, there are no new enemy attack patterns to learn.

When the game gets too easy or difficult for you, simply head back here and change difficulty as much as you want. If you think dropping the difficulty level to the easiest setting might make battles a cakewalk, you still need to input some buttons to win fights. It isn’t a complete walk in the ancient Greek park, at least.

If you’re looking for a combat-free experience, then you might want to wait for Ubisoft’s upcoming Discovery Tour update, which allows for safe exploration.

So, that’s all you need to know on how to change difficulty in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. For more useful tips, be sure to check our expansive Assassin’s Creed Odyssey wiki and the guides down below.
