Like typical Dragon Quest fashion, Echoes of an Elusive Age doesn’t do things too differently when it comes to the games turn-based combat system; you can actually move freely around the battlefield, which is new for the series, but it doesn’t affect the actual combat at all – it’s just there for looks for the most part.

You’ll be able to control the tactics they use but if you want to directly control each party member during battle just go to the tactics menu in the main menu, or you can select tactics at the start of a battle. Just set everyone to follow orders and you will have total control over your teammates, letting you select their actions how you see fit.
