What the Voice of Riven Is in Destiny 2: Forsaken

Warning: This article deals with the very end of the Forsaken campaign in Destiny 2, specifically the Voice of Riven. If you do not want to be spoiled about the story, especially its end, you should leave this page now. This is your last chance.

What the heck is the voice of riven? That’s a question lots of Destiny 2 players are probably asking themselves after completing the story of Destiny 2: Forsaken. Everything up until the final boss of the final mission of Destiny 2: Forsaken made perfect sense. Uldren and his merry band of murderers killed Cayde-6 because he was just kind of in their way a little bit and Uldren never really liked us or Cayde-6 (most didn’t) anyway.

After that happens, our character is so pissed off that he/she actually speaks. With the support of Ikora, Petra, and even a faction of Fallen, we set off on an adventure that leads us to The Tangled Shore of the Reef, as we hunt down the Scorned Barons (you know, that group of really gnarly Fallen), and make them pay with their lives for the death of Cayde-6. With me so far? Should be, it’s pretty obvious.

It starts getting weird in the game’s final act. We learn that Uldren has gone mad. He was a jerk before and always will be, but not this much of a jerk. He believes that what he is doing will bring back Queen Mara Sov from Destiny 1, who was taken out by the Taken King, Oryx.  In reality though, we learn at the end that unbeknownst to him, he was raising an entity of the darkness of some kind known as Riven.

As of the time of this writing, we’re still putting all these pieces together, but it sounds like Riven, aka the Voice of Riven, is an entity of the darkness that shares a connection with the Taken. Riven has been the main antagonist of Forsaken this whole time, pulling at Uldren’s strings, and Riven is a problem that we will likely deal with during Last Wish, the next raid, when it releases next week on Sept 14.

We are still digging around, playing, and doing some research, and when we find more info, we will update this post.

That does it for what the voice of riven is in Destiny 2: Forsaken. Be sure to visit our wiki guide for more tips and tricks.
