How to Get a Pickaxe in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate

Recommended Videos

The world of Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is a dangerous one, that also happens to be filled with precious minerals, crafting items, and monster parts that you can use to create some formidable armor and weaponry. Of course, to get this awesome gear, you’re going to have to work for it. That means slaying monsters, grinding out quests, and, you guessed it, mining for some of those additional crafting materials that the big beasts in the game won’t give you. In order to mine, though, you need a pickaxe, so here’s what you need to know to get your hands on one in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate.

More often than not, when you want a pickaxe, you’re going to be doing a mining quest. And it just so happens that Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is generous in the sense it tends to drop a pickaxe for you to grab from the Supply Box at the very beginning of your quest.

If, for whatever reason, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate isn’t feeling quite so generous and hasn’t stashed a pickaxe away in the Supply Box, you can craft one fairly easily.

You’ll need to combine a mystery bone with either iron ore, or malachite ore. Either one of these metals will enable you to create a pickaxe and get mining in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate.

To do so, simply seeking out the shining rock nodes, and press the A button on your Switch’s Joy-Con or controller to begin mining. Though, keep in mind that your pickaxe will break after a few mining attempts.

That’s all you need to know to get this useful equipment in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. For more tips, tricks, and information on the game, be sure to check out our comprehensive wiki.
