Fortnite updates pretty much every week without fail, as Epic Games toil away on exciting new additions to make your Battle Royale or Save the World experience all the sweeter. Of course, if you’ve tried loading up the game after an update has rolled out and you haven’t downloaded it, you won’t be able to play the game. So here’s exactly how to update Fortnite on the Xbox One.

First off, regardless of whether or not you have your system settings set to downloading updates automatically, sometimes you’ll need to manually set an update to download. To do this, press the Home button on your controller and select Games & Apps. From here, select Updates from the left sidebar. You should see a Fortnite tile appear here. Simply select it, press the Menu button, and select Update. It’ll ask you if you’re happy for it to update Fortnite as it may take a while, so just confirm it and let it get on. You can keep an eye on the progress from this screen, or just go about playing or watching something else on your Xbox One in the meantime.

That’s everything you need to know to update Fortnite on Xbox One. For more on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
