How to Dance and Use Emotes in Sea of Thieves

What’s a merry pirate without a merry pirate jig? To work as a team on the seven seas, communication is key. However, you may not always have the resources available to verbally express yourself to your cohorts in Sea of Thieves, and sometimes, the clearest instruction is the one right before your eyes. Here’s what you need to know to dance and use emotes in Sea of Thieves.

To use emotes in the game, simply press down on the D-Pad. This will bring up your selection of emotes on offer, and pressing the corresponding direction on the right control stick will activate it. Your Sea of Thieves character will continue on with this action until they are moved, which can be useful if you need to express your absence from the game through some form of interpretive dance.

The full range of emotes and dances available is still yet to be seen, and will likely range from typical gestures like pointing and laughing, to more obscure animations.

Sea of Thieves is due to release on the 20th of March on Xbox One and Microsoft Windows, and features all of the dances, jigs, and rum drinking you could ever hope for.

That’s all you need to know to dance and emote in Sea of Thieves. If you’re after more guides, tips and tricks, make sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki for the game.
