How Old Barnwood Builders’ Johnny Jett Is
Johnny Jett is part of the Barnwood Builders team and is often cited as being the most creative of the group. He, along with Mark Bowe, rebuild and restore some of America’s oldest and most important cabins and barns. Jett is 68 years old having been born in Chicago on April 23. 1949. A Vietnam veteran, Johnny Jett also worked to maintain the Fleming County, KY, water system for 25 years.
So far, Johnny Jett has been a part of 48 episodes of Barnwood Builders and has also starred in a handful of other DIY shows, appearing as a guest. Johnny Jett moved to West Virginia in the early ’90s and started up a business with his friend Sherman Thompson, in which they dismantled and sold log cabins. The duo met Mark Bowe shortly after, and by 1998 were working for his business called Antique Cabins and Barns.
This established the core crew of Barnwood Builders, whose show has run for five years so far. Jett is also an accomplished artist as well as builder, selling his work online. One of the core threads which connect the members of the team together is the fact that they all say they were raised by hardworking and traditional Fathers. The show has been praised for its laid-back style and pioneer spirit.
Season 6 of Barnwood Builders is currently airing on DIY Network, with Johnny Jett still a regular part of the show.
