Destiny 2 Leviathan Raid: How to Kill the Royal Beasts and Survive the Hunt

How to Kill the Royal Beasts and Survive the Hunt in Destiny 2’s Leviathan Raid

Recommended Videos

The next challenge in Destiny 2’s Leviathan raid is particularly challenging. You need to survive the royal hunt while also taking out the Royal Beasts (there are six of them). You need to kill all of them while making use of a safe room between fighting sessions. Due to the safe room mechanic, you only have four chances to actually finish this section. Also, note that everyone has only one Revive Token. If you don’t have one, you can’t revive anyone. Now to the challenge.

First things first, clear out the room of the basic adds. This spawns two Prism Weapons on top of the golden platform. Grabbing the Prism Weapons spawns some new beasts, as well as four orbs below you in the safe room. The remaining four players must grab those orbs. This is where things get interesting in the Royal Hunt.

The players with the Prism Weapons need to stay up top and guide the players with the orbs towards glowing flowers. They can’t be allowed to be seen by the Royal Beasts, or else you will alert the guards and have to rush back to the safe room. Now here’s one of the most important parts of this part of the Leviathan Raid, the players with the Orbs need to move together. They must approach the flower as close as possible and then the person with the Prism Weapon stands in a sunspot (glowing spots along the top of the level). If all are standing nearby, then they’ll earn a buff called Empowering Spores x12 (if all four are standing together, it’s less for each person missing). Note that after you take out a flower, a cabal enemy will appear on each side. Only take it out using the Prism Weapon since it makes no noise.

Once you grab one, guide them to the purple flower on the other side. Afterwards, they spawn again on both sides. Guide your team again to get as many of these powerups as possible. Get four of them and you have an Empowering Spore x48 which will let you do a ton of damage. This is pushing it, so if you can reach this high, you should trigger the fight against the Royal Beasts.

To trigger the fight, simply attack, or get seen by one of the Royal Beasts in this part of the Leviathan Raid. At this point, the person that had the Prism Weapon and is on a side alone (the rest should be where the last flower was) should jump down (to get the buff) and use their super and heavy weapon if they have to focus on a single dog. On the other side, everyone needs to focus fire on each of the Royal Beasts. If it all goes well, you can clear all three Royal Beasts on that side.

You only have 30 seconds during a damage phase, which includes the time to get back to the safe room, so make sure you call it out (you can only enter the safe room from the top). Get your damage out then get back quickly. If you trigger the fight earlier than you intended, but still have plenty of chances left, just do the damage that you can and get to the safe room immediately.

All you have to do is rinse and repeat to beat the Royal Beasts and survive the hunt in Destiny 2’s Leviathan Raid. Do note that you have less time before a fight triggers each time (the Royal Beasts will eventually trigger them on their own), but if you have only a couple left, this should be a breeze.

We’ll be covering the rest of Destiny 2’s Leviathan Raid as we progress through. If you need a helping hand on reaching this point, be sure to check out our Bathing Ritual guide for the first section of the Leviathan Raid. For more on Destiny 2, check out our wiki.
