How to Get Treasure Boxes and What They Are – Horizon Zero Dawn
As you scroll through your inventory in Horizon Zero Dawn, you may have noticed there’s a section called Treasure Boxes. The game doesn’t really tell you much more about what these items are and how to get them. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
Treasure Boxes are essentially Horizon Zero Dawns way of rewarding you with items for completing quests. Except, rather than giving you specific items, Treasure Boxes are basically blind and randomly generated crates that contain a number of other resources. The rarer the Treasure Box is, the better chance you’ve got of getting better items.
Getting these boxes in Horizon Zero Dawn is pretty easy and you’ve got a number of ways to go about it. First, make sure you speak to every Merchant in the game. Each one will have a free sample Treasure Box that you can claim for free, alongside others that you can pay Metal Shards for. Alternatively, you’ll pick up Treasure Boxes for completing quests, finding collectibles, and completing Hunting Ground challenges in the game.
