First off, it’s important to note that there are two different types of Eggs which will do different things. First are Lucky Eggs. These items are consumables which, when used, grant you double XP for a 30-minute period. This can be particularly handy if you know there are a lot of Pokemon by, or if you’re about to head into a gym. Lucky Eggs can be bought from the game’s in-store shop individually, or in sets of eight or 25.

Then you’ve got just your run-of-the-mill Pokemon Eggs. These things are the ones you’re going to want if you’re after filling up that Pokedex. In order to get these, you’re going to want to head to as many Pokestops as you can and spin that icon for items. With any luck, you’ll receive a Pokemon Egg. Getting Pokemon Eggs is the hardest part of the whole process. You’re one step closer to ticking another ‘mon off of your Pokedex.
