Bethesda had a great showing at E3 2015. Not only did they unveil one of the biggest games of the show, Fallout 4, they announced that it would be releasing just a few months later. And you know what? It actually did. During a year full of big games getting pushed to 2016, Bethesda managed to deliver on its promise.
On top of that, the company showed off some new projects, including Dishonored 2. Not only will players get a chance to again experience the mysterious powers and multi-avenued gameplay, but they’ll be able to play as Emily Kaldwin, who was just a girl during the first game.
With last year’s showing being so big, many are wondering if Bethesda can possibly follow it up. To that end, we’ve come up with some reasonable expectations for the company’s upcoming press conference.
More Fallout 4
Fallout 4 was the highlight of Bethesda’s conference last year, so it only makes sense that they’ll let it carry some of the burden this year as well. The developer still has some plans regarding more downloadable content for the blockbuster RPG, so fans can expect to hear a bit about that when the company takes to the stage next week.
Mods for the console versions also very recently became a thing. A lot of major companies love to talk numbers, and we may get some fun figures surrounding just how popular mods have become. Either way, Fallout 4 is sure to receive its fair share of stage time as Bethesda lays out its plans for the future.Â
Dishonored 2
Dishonored 2’s reveal sent fans into a frenzy. After Corvo’s adventure, many wondered what became of him and his charge, Emily. It turns out that Emily became even more of a badass than her defender, utilizing the same mysterious abilities mixed with her much more agile fighting style. Players will step into the future as they help Emily once more.
With the game’s release just a few months away, it would be crazy for Bethesda not to use this opportunity to show it off some more. New details on the world and powers, more insight into Emily’s evolution, and maybe even a glimpse of Corvo. Also, a hands-on demo will most likely be available as the game approaches its final stage of development.Â
Sequels for The Evil Within and Wolfenstein?
It’s been a while since the release of the first Evil Within. That game went back to the roots of survival horror, providing some seriously intense sequences where death lurked around every corner and ammunition was scarce. Ever since, fans have been eagerly awaiting a followup to fill the void that Resident Evil created when it switched to a more action route. It wouldn’t be surprising if there was something being developed by Tango Gameworks and Shinji Mikami.
On the other hand, Wolfenstein once proved how insanely fun a first-person shooter could be. The recently released Doom exists in the same vein, but there’s just something about stepping into the boots of B.J. Blaskowicz that is beyond compare. The open layout of each mission, as well as the different ways you could take out the enemy, made for a great experience that needs to be followed up on – something Bethesda may be well aware of.Â
The Elder Scrolls
Ah, The Elder Scrolls. There are so many possibilities for this beloved franchise. Will Bethesda remaster the last generation’s entries? Or, will they surprise everyone and reveal a brand new adventure steeped in magic and mystery? There’s also that card game as well as an expansion to The Elder Scrolls Online that could easily pop up on stage. Also, let us not forget that possible tease on TESO’s Facebook page.
No matter how you look at it, it’s almost impossible for this series to not appear during E3. Bethesda knows what its big cards are, and while Fallout 4 is cruising along, this is the perfect opportunity for the company to shift focus and start they hype for the next great thing.Â
Another Bombshell
What helped to make E3 2015 so great for Bethesda wasn’t solely the fact that they showed off amazing games. They showed off a highly anticipated game and released it shortly after. That’s not something that happens very often, and definitely not for big releases. It helped the company steal the spotlight for the months that followed right up until the game’s release.
Another bombshell like that may very well be in the cards, making for an exciting time for fans of Bethesda.
