Upon its release, The Witcher 3 received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics and has since had an equally enthusiastic response from gamers. Co-founder of CD Projekt RED, Marcin Iwiński has published an open letter to fans which not only thanks them for their support over the last few years but also reveals that within the first two weeks of being released, The Witcher 3 sold over four million copies.
The letter first thanked fans for the overwhelming amount of support they’ve shown for the game and then went on to read:
“I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank the four million gamers worldwide who bought The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the first two weeks from launch. Four million RPG fans spending their hard-earned money on our game is a sign that we did something right, and you can be sure that we’ll harness all that positive energy and make the upcoming expansions worthy of the grand adventure that you’re telling us Wild Hunt already is!”
It’s great to see that fans are showing their support for the game and that it is selling so well. This will no doubt encourage CD Projekt RED to continue making great games whether they be part of The Witcher universe or something else entirely. We look forward to learning how many copies the game sells in a month, six months, and a year.
