LawBreakers Creator Considers a Nintendo Switch Port

Cliff Bleszinski ponders what could be if LawBreakers were ported to the hybrid console.

Could LawBreakers ever appear on Nintendo Switch? That very question was asked of creator Cliff Bleszinski, and his answer leaves the door of opportunity slightly ajar.

In an interview with GameSpot, the famed creator of Gears of War praised Nintendo’s newest console and considered what a port of his latest action shooter would look like on the handheld, hinting at potentially unique experiences compared to its PC and PS4 counterparts.

“If we were to do the Switch, would it be like a rocket arena, 1v1 with nearby people or something like that? I don’t know,” Bleszinski said, “But if we were to do it, we’d want to switch the game up in a fun and interesting way, that would make itself work with the portability aspect of the console.”

So not an outright confirmation, but at least it’s something he and studio Boss Key have at least put some thought into, even if it’s in passing. The studio has also considered a port to Microsoft’s Xbox One, to which Bleszinski explains would take priority over Nintendo’s console if it were to come to fruition.

LawBreakers has struggled somewhat to retain its audience since releasing in August, having dropped to as low as 10 concurrent users earlier this month. Who knows, a release on Nintendo’s hybrid hardware could be the shot in the arm the game needs, if indeed it gets that opportunity. Whether the console could handle such an FPS experience may be answered once Bethesda publishes its own high octane shooter in Doom on Nintendo Switch late next month.

For now Bleszinski and the team are hard at work adding new content to LawBreakers on PS4 and PC, including last week’s All-Star update.
