We’ll have to stick to quick play for now.
Well, this is a bit of a bummer for fans who were looking forward to playing Overwatch on a more competitive level. The official Overwatch Twitter account sent out a tweet just three days ago, stating that the team was now aiming for mid to late July with regards to the game’s competitive mode.
@jurizar3 We're aiming for mid-to-late July.

This ranked mode was originally slated for the end of June, but it looks like things have changed since that announcement at the game’s launch. The Overwatch closed beta players got a chance to check out the competitive mode towards the end of it, but it was clear that it still needed a lot of work, and there were issues to be worked out, such as the length of a season, and empty spots not being refilled quickly after players had dropped out. Of course, the tweet in question states that the competitive mode has been delayed for the PS4, so it’s possible that it’s simply been pushed back for consoles but not PC.
Blizzard hasn’t given any more information about when the competitive mode will be out. We’ll keep you updated as more information comes our way. Until then, we’ll just have to make do with the quick play mode. Overwatch is now available on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
