The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Keeping Multiple Save Files

Recommended Videos

In an open world RPG like Breath of the Wild, you’re going to want to have a few save files, just in case you mess up on a side quest. However, while the game does keep multiple slots for auto-saving, it doesn’t look like you can manually save your game in different slots.

When you save your game from the system menu, you’re only allowed one save slot. And when you load up the game from the title screen, you can choose from your manual save slot, as well as a bunch of other slots where the game auto-saved. Simply put, you can’t start two separate playthroughs in one go without giving up your progress in your original run. That said, if you have multiple user accounts on your Nintendo Switch, you could always start a fresh game by logging in with another user and starting the game from there. You’ll have to switch user accounts whenever you want to jump between your two playthroughs, but that seems to be the only workaround for now.
