How to Beat Lynel – Zelda Breath of the Wild

Recommended Videos

Lynel are one of the tougher beasts you’ll face on your adventure in Breath of the Wild, and you’ll come face-to-face with one while helping out the Zora Prince. While these have a formidable set of attacks, with a bit of close observation, Lynel can be taken care of relatively easily.

First off, it’s worth noting that if you’re careful, you can just sneak around the Lynel during the Zora quest if you’re really struggling to defeat it. Just grab the shock arrows you need on scoot on out.

If you’re up for a fight, though, then this is what you’ll want to do. Lynel have a strong assortment of ranged attacks that will drain your health gauge if you keep your distance. Due to this, you’ll want to make sure you stay nice and close to the Lynel. This does mean, however, that you’ll need to watch your foe closely and look for telltale signs of attack.

Should the beast roar, start backing off or have your shield at the ready as an AoE attack is about to go down. It will also use a lot of ranged fireball attacks, even when you’re up close, but keep dodging and dishing out swipes with your strongest weapons to make light work of the creature.

Aside from that, you’ll mainly want to make use of your Flurry Rush. To do this, wait until the Lynel swings for you. Make sure you’re locked-on with L, and press X to backflip and evade the hit. If you time this perfectly, time should slow right down. Mash the Y button and Link will begin unleashing hell on the Lynel.

If you rinse and repeat this Flurry Rush method, it shouldn’t take you too long to beat it.
