When Bloodborne hit earlier this year, it proved to be just the nightmare that everyone was looking forward to. Its challenging combat, gothic setting, horrifying monsters, and dark mystery caught the attention of everyone brave enough to explore its dark alleyways. And now with the advent of Old Hunters fans need to prepare to do it all over again. As much as you may have believed it to be so, the nightmare is far from over. In fact, it has evolved and there is a new realm where players need to traverse: the Hunter’s Nightmare.
This area will challenge all of you Hunters in new and terrifying ways, but don’t worry, it will all be worth it. New bosses, enemies, weapons, and armor await those willing to step into the abyss that haunts the minds of so many that came before you. All you need to do is answer the call and be prepared. We’ll help you with that second part.Â
Install and Update Bloodborne
Bloodborne came out back in March, so it wouldn’t be too surprising if most fans have already completed it… several times. If you’re one of the types who moves from game to game, you may have had to uninstall this one for space. Well, you need to re-install it, like right now. Sony released a hefty update that gets the game primed and ready for the release of The Old Hunters on Nov. 24.
If you have slow internet, you won’t want to have to deal with downloading the DLCÂ and the update, so get the jump on your data usage and get a large chunk out of the way immediately.Â
Make Your Way to the Cathedral Ward and Defeat the Boss
In order to access The Old Hunters you’ll need to have made it to the Cathedral Ward and defeated Vicar Amelia (that huge, white, fluffy, healing, puppy-like boss that is deadly as all hell). If you’re just starting the game for the first time, this may take you a while. This boss is not to be trifled with, especially since she has the ability to restore her own health. You’ll need to get past the first few bosses before reaching her, as well, so good luck.
If you’re on NG+ just make sure to make your way over there before the DLC goes live. You’ll need access to the relic in the back of the room if you want to try your hand in Bloodborne’s newest area. If you’re still on your first run through the game and have already passed this then you’re fine. Just make your way over when The Old Hunters goes live and you’ll do just fine. Be warned, though, if you’ve done the steps for Eileen the Crow’s questline you may have to deal with a powerful hunter in the Cathedral, meaning you won’t be able to fast travel there. So go check that out first.Â
Practice Against Hunters
One of the most prevalent enemy types in Bloodborne: The Old Hunters is that of the Hunter. This place is a nightmare where Hunters who have lost their minds dwell and await fresh meat to send to hell. They are just as nimble and powerful as you are, so you’ll want some practice against others just like you. There are plenty of demented Hunters scattered throughout the city of Yharham, but if you’ve already defeated them, then PvP is your only recourse.
So prepare yourself for some difficult battles as you challenge your fellow humans to a game of wits and skill. You’ll need the experience if you’re to have any chance of defeating that which waits in the Hunter’s Nightmare.
Join the League
The latest update added The League. A sort of faction that introduced new NPCs to help players as well as a way for Hunters to compete with others through a ranking system. You’ll want to join for the NPCs, though. These individuals will help out quite a bit during the tougher parts of The Old Hunters (meaning all parts). Being able to have a powerful warrior at your side when your buddies aren’t online is invaluable, so get out there and join now so that you can be ready when the time comes.
You’ll need to obtain the Impurity Rune, then head to the Forbidden Forest to meet Summon Master Valtr. He’ll prove to be invaluable in the coming events, so play nice.
You should be all set for Bloodborne: The Old Hunters now. Are you excited for the nightmare that awaits? Feel free to let us know in the comments below.
