Goat Simulator Super Secret DLC Ad
This moment actually took place during the pre-show before The Game Awards 2015. Goat Simulator has made a name for itself by being an odd duck and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but its advertisement for its upcoming DLC was too weird.
A round table including a bunch of animals that would fit right in with Goat Simulator and a porpoise arguing over purchasing a DLC. The titular goat shows up to tell his buddy to just fork up the dough since he got the game on sale. It was an odd advertisement that seemed very forced and didn’t really provide any information other than the fact that there would be DLC.Â
Constant Questions About Star Wars: Battlefront
Star Wars: Battlefront is not a bad game, sure it has its trouble areas, but its a pretty solid offering. Yet for some reason, somebody at The Game Awards 2015 decided it would be a good idea to stop famous people and ask them about the game every now and then. Over and over and over and over again.
There was definitely advertising throughout the entire show, but it felt natural as commercials thrown between categories. Star Wars: Battlefront lacked that feeling, and that made it one of the oddest additions to the show.
HOW MUCH DO YOU LOVE STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT, THOUGH?
Rockband VR
When Oculus took to the stage at The Game Awards 2015, they could’ve shown anything to wow those in attendance and all of the fans watching from home. Instead, they showed Rockband VR in what had to be the most awkward reveal in quite some time.
When people think VR, they think something exciting and immersive, not jamming on a plastic guitar and looking around. On a stage where huge reveals and stunning gameplay is being shown, Rockband VR was extraordinarily underwhelming.
Awkward Confusion
Viva Seifert won the Best Performance award for Her Story during the show, and that’s cool. What wasn’t cool was the confusion during the announcement. While her name was called, the game that was announced was The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Making things even more awkward is the fact that the Her Story crew were sitting right next to the Witcher 3’s crew. Turf war, maybe?
Some confused glances were exchanged and someone shouted “VICTORY!” on stage. It was a moment where time seemed to stop. Heck, even the woman presenting the award was confused as she hesitantly shook hands with Viva and walked off stage.
Mistakes happen, but very few are immortalized in such grand fashion.
Konami Messes Up Again
Just when you thought Konami couldn’t go any lower, they turn around and show their contempt for Kojima once more. Leading up to The Game Awards 2015, it was teased that the Metal Gear Solid V producer would make an appearance during the stream. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be because Konami said that he legally could not attend the event.
Naturally, fans were not happy with the news. Actually, that’s putting it lightly, they were absolutely pissed. It’s bad enough that they’ve been in a very public fight with one of the industry’s most beloved developers, but now they’re barring him from attending events?
That is beyond low, and after being put on blast by Geoff Keighley, it’s going to be quite difficult for Konami to bounce back from this huge blunder.
Thankfully, The Game Awards 2015 had more good than bad. What did you think about the show? Enjoyed it or did the low points bring you too down? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
