It is almost that time of year again! E3 is like Christmas for gamers far and wide, and it looks to be another year filled with goodies that we can’t wait to see. Sony always brings their A game, and this year looks to be no different. While there are many games we hope to get a peek at, here is a list of games that Sony has officially confirmed for their press conference.
GOD OF WAR
Kratos has and continues to be a flagship character for Sony, and the next chapter will be shown very soon. The fourth game in the franchise, simply titled God of War, will show Kratos at a very different stage of life: as a father. Another change the series is making is a shift from Greek to Norse mythology, and we’re interested to see how all of these ingredients collide.
God of War has continually pushed the boundaries for its graphics and gameplay, and this will mark its first appearance on the latest generation console. God of War has huge potential for being the most gorgeous game on the market, but one thing we can definitely be expecting are those epic boss battles that we were given a small taste of in this gameplay trailer.

SPIDER-MAN
Insomniac Games plans to bring the open-world setting back to Spider-Man, something that Spider-Man 2 did extremely well back in 2004. Sony should be putting a lot of chips on the table by showcasing the gameplay, as Spider-Man is one of their more hotly anticipated exclusives.
The teaser trailer revealed at E3 2016 was stunning as everyone’s favorite web-slinger nearly stole the show. No story reveals have been made, but the trailer is jam-packed with Spidey action. Once again, our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is set to be one of the highlights coming out of E3 2017. A release date has yet to be assigned, but hopefully we will all know the answer to this by the end of the month.
DAYS GONE
Days Gone. Days Gone was given an impressive reveal trailer at Sony’s E3 conference in 2016, but little has been mentioned since the big unveiling until now. Days Gone is a third-person zombie survival game, and will certainly be putting the PlayStation 4 hardware to the test as it looks to feature more zombies on screen at one time than any game prior.
Sam Witwer, the lead voice actor, confirmed in a livestream video that Days Gone will be at E3 “in a big way.” What this entails is anyone’s guess, but it certainly has piqued our interests.Â
DESTINY 2
Destiny was a smash hit despite some gamer complaints, mostly dealing with the lack of a rich story. Bungie sets out to correct all of this with Destiny 2 in order to deliver a game closer to what fans expected the first time around. Still, multiplayer has proven to be a blast and has a hardcore fan-base for those who could look over any disappointments they may have had at first.
Bungie should get some kudos for finding a way to meet fan expectations while sticking to their vision of Destiny. The developers will be including something they call “Guided Games.” This will aid players in better matchmaking without having to leave the game to seek out like-minded players. This is just one of their changes to win back gamers who weren’t over the moon for Destiny. Will these changes broaden the fan-base? Only time will tell, but the fans should be in store for some great gameplay as Destiny 2 is shown off in just over a week.
DETROIT: BECOME HUMAN
Quantic Dream is bringing their latest, Detroit: Become Human. Their previous games, Indigo Prophecy, Heavy Rain, and Beyond: Two Souls, received critical acclaim. We expect Detroit: Become Human will be no different. Quantic Dream is known for their interactive drama stories that have been described as “playable movies.”
Detroit: Become Human will be dealing with topical themes such as robots and humans co-existing and what really makes us human. Several characters will be playable, all of which are androids who are dealing with their newfound sentience.
Other than a brief synopsis, Quantic Dream has been keeping details under wraps. Hopefully, that will all change soon.
NAUGHTY DOG
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy follows Chloe and Nadine as they search for an ancient artifact in India. What began as DLC for Uncharted 4 has nearly become a full fledged spin-off story for the franchise. Despite the game reaching upwards of nine hours worth of storyline, Naughty Dog has made mention that users with a season pass will still receive the game for free. Anyone else who wants in on the action will need to pay the $30, which is still a reasonable price for what is essentially an entire new Uncharted adventure. Naughty Dog continues to exceed expectations, and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for us at their E3 presentation.
Also worth noting is that Naughty Dog will be giving away downloadable copies of Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy for free to those who pre-order The Lost Legacy. Now that is what we call getting bang for your buck. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy has been given a release date of August 22nd.
Naughty Dog will be having a great E3 this year, as they will be bringing another highly anticipated title to the table, The Last of Us Part II. To what capacity, we aren’t quite sure yet, but it will no doubt make an appearance in some form.
One of the biggest IPs going for Sony is 2013’s critically and commercially acclaimed game, The Last of Us. Fans have been hoping for any news of a sequel, and they finally got their wish when a teaser trailer was shown at PSX 2016 back in December. The Last of Us Part II will be carrying on with the journey of Joel and Ellie. Only this time players will be playing as Ellie, albeit some years after the events of the original story.
OTHER GAMES
That’s not all Sony has up its sleeves. A whole slew of games have been announced as part of their showcase. Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown will be making an appearance, as well as the following titles:
- Battalion 1944
- Call of Cthulu
- Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
- The Crew 2
- Darksiders III
- Dirt 4
- Dragon Quest XI
- FIFA 18
- F1 2017
- GT Sport
- Insurgency: Sandstorm

- Middle-Earth: Shadow of War
- NBA Live 18
- Need for Speed: Payback

- Star Wars: Battlefront II
- Sonic Forces

Phew! Wait, that’s not all. Call of Duty World War II will definitely be there, as always, and although not confirmed, there very well may be something from Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy VII Remake. Don’t hold your breath on those, but there is still hope. Also, we know that Sony has the potential to keep a few secrets to themselves. *cough cough* That major unveiling for The Last Guardian in 2015.
All surprise reveals aside, these are the games that have been confirmed to make an appearance for E3 2017. It looks as though we will have another exciting lineup from Sony as they fight to have the best conference. Be sure to tune in to Sony’s conference at 6 p.m. PT on Monday, June 12th. Which of these games are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments below!
