Rainbow Six Extraction Has Been Delayed to January 2022

Yet another major AAA video game has been pushed back to 2022, and this time it’s Ubisoft’s cooperative tactical shooter Rainbow Six Extraction. No particular reason for the delay was stated. The company simply explained today in an update over on its website that the development team is “embracing the opportunity to take additional time to bring this vision to life in the way it deserves in January 2022.”

The full message reads as follows:

“Our ambition with Rainbow Six Extraction is to deliver a full-fledged AAA experience that changes the way you play and think about cooperative games. With unique features like Missing In Action or The Sprawl, every mission is set to be a tense and challenging experience in which you’ll lead the elite operators of Rainbow Six in a fight against a lethal and evolving alien threat.

We are embracing the opportunity to take additional time to bring this vision to life in the way it deserves in January 2022. We are confident this will ensure Rainbow Six Extraction is the immersive, cooperative, and thrilling experience we set out to create, and the one you aspire to play.

We look forward to sharing more with you very soon!”

Extraction was originally slated to launch on Sept. 16.

For those who aren’t up to speed with Extraction, it mashes up the tactical FPS action of Siege with co-operative PvE alien-slaying. Players are able to team up in squads of up to three players or solo queue as they choose from one of Rainbow Six Siege’s 18 operators and take on various missions. The game is essentially a larger scale version of the “Outbreak” limited time mode that was featured in Siege back in 2018.
