The art of Metal Gear Solid is gorgeous. What better way to celebrate the lovely presentation of the games by getting an artbook showcasing Yoji Shinkawa’s illustrations? If you want more, the art of Ashley Wood’s Metal Gear Solid graphic novel also provides us with some lovely portraits, as well as an alternative design interpretation of the game’s characters.

If you’d love to read the stories of Metal Gear Solid in literature form, Raymond Benson’s novel adaptations aren’t too shabby either. All in all, MGS books are perfect gifts for the hardcore collector, and all of these selections would look great on a bookcase or in a display cabinet.

Accessories and Apparel

For the fans who love being public about their affection for the series, why not gift them with some accessories and apparel? T-shirts are the most common form of apparel, but let’s be real, you can’t really consider yourself a proper fan of the series if you don’t at least own a FOXHOUND or, more recently, a Diamond Dogs shirt.

Let’s not forget the official 1984 collection presented by Insert Coin, as well. You’ve got various tops, varsity jackets, pullovers, and patches – perfect for Diamond Dogs fanatics.

If you’re looking for a design a little less mainstream, check out this t-shirt print of the iconic exclamation point, coupled with the silhouette of Snake hiding under a cardboard box.

In celebration of the release of the recent Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, perhaps you might consider getting the ‘I Love DD’ mug, as well. It’s a mug that was featured in a short scene in the game, and it’s the perfect gift for fans of the cute pup that roams around Mother Base.

Soundtracks

The Metal Gear Solid series isn’t just lauded for its narrative and game design; there’s much to be said about its soundtracks and musical quality, as well. The 20th Anniversary Collection comes with a small selection of iconic tracks including The Best Is Yet To Come and the Metal Gear Solid Main Theme.

Not only is this gift perfect for audiophiles, it’s also meaningful in that it celebrates the rich history of the series by bringing together the games’ best sounds into one lovely collection.

Display Figures

What better way to show off your love for Metal Gear than buying and displaying a Metal Gear of your own? You have the choice of getting the Rex, the Ray, or even the Peace Walker. The best part of any MGS game is getting to actually fight a giant nuclear mech. A Metal Gear figure would make for a lovely memento that serves as a reminder of all those epic fights.

If you love toys and figurines, there’s also an assortment of collectible character figures available out there. Play Arts Kai and McFarlane have been releasing high quality figures and displays of the iconic characters from the game, though it’s a little harder to find figures produced by the latter company these days. And Nendoroid figures from Good Smile are always a cute addition to anyone’s collection.
