The 7.10 update for Fortnite is live today with a new winter event for the Save the World mode and a holiday event across it and the Battle Royale mode.
“Frostnite,” teased earlier this month, is a new mission type for the Save the World mode where up to four players must survive the cold by refilling a “Burner” with scavenged BluGlo. Players must also deal with fighting off wave after wave of enemies while scavenging for gear and weapons, since any crafted inventory does not carry over to the new mission.
Players earn more Snowflake Tickets the longer they survive, and other rewards for surviving past 15 and 30 minutes. The update also allows Down Tier Crafting for crafting already upgraded gear at a lower leveled tier, and changed the Damage Resistance stat to Armor to increase individual perk power and reduce stacking bonuses.
Battle Royale received mostly bug fixes, performance improvements, and changes to the heavy assault rifle weapon. Epic Games announced yesterday that the snowboard-like Driftboard vehicle would not be included in the 7.10 update to focus on “final quality of life changes and other polish improvements.”
The Fortnite update also adds new islands, items, and features for the Creative mode. Check out the patch notes for the full list.
Epic Games also announced the “14 Days of Fortnite” event coming to both Save the World and Battle Royale modes on Wednesday, Dec. 19. The event brings new holiday quests and free Llama pinatas each day for Save the World, while Battle Royale receives new challenges, rewards, and a new or returning limited-time mode each day.
