The Witcher Games

So there’s a Witcher fan in your life. You know what that means, right? Time to get some games to wrap or place in a stocking. The good thing about The Witcher is that every game so far has been nothing short of amazing. Of course, you should know that these games aren’t for children, casual gamers, or the faint of heart (they can be pretty damn graphic and challenging).

There are three games to choose from (or you can get all three), each with their own deep narratives and brutal combat. Each game also has it’s own expansions that add even more action to the already huge experiences. You can find all of the games on the official Witcher website.

If you’re looking for something where everyone can get in on the Witcher action, consider picking up the tabletop game. It provides a couple of hours of fun for up to four players, and you may just learn about the world your loved one cares about so much.

Books and Movies

You may not know this, but The Witcher 3 and all of the other games in the franchise are actually based on a series of books by Andrzej Sapkowski. These books tell the tales of Geralt of Rivia, a man who was mutated for the express purpose of hunting foul creatures throughout the land. They are very good reads, and the books will definitely provide an even stronger appreciation of the lore present in the meticulously crafted worlds of the video games. You can find all of the books on Amazon. There are five main books, but if you want to just get them started make sure to pick up “The Last Wish” which is the first in the series.

There are also movies set in the same universe and also starring Geralt of Rivia. You won’t find them by searching for The Witcher movies, though, since they are actually titled The Hexer. You may as well pick these up also to complete the trifecta of games, books, and film.

Witcher School Medallions

Geralt of Rivia is a Witcher of the Wolf School. A school dedicated to cunning maneuvers used to keep opponents of balance. It is easily the most famous due to the fact that the series protagonist belongs to it. You can get your loved one the school medallion which features the very sharp wolf’s head from the official Witcher shop. Of course, there is a chance that your special someone may be a fan of other schools for whatever reasons they may have.

Unfortunately, the official shop only carries the School of the Wolf Medallion. That doesn’t mean you’re out of luck, though, because there’s a neat online shop called Etsy. You can find a few of the other schools, such as Griffin and Serpent, here to either complete a collection or gift their favorite Witcher school.

Clothing

If something’s famous, then you can find clothing for it, that’s just how the world (and the internet) works. The Witcher is no exception to this phenomenon which means your gift buying days have just gotten a bit easier. The Witcher store has some cool shirts for men and women with some really nice artwork on display. Or you can pick up the stunning Geralt hoodie which sports a Wolf Medallion zipper, and chain-mail accents on the shoulders.

If you’re looking for more unique designs that you just can’t find on the official site, there are several online retailers that sell designs based on popular properties. One really good site to check is Red Bubble for some neat looking shirts and hoodies.

Give the Gift of Gray Hair

You know what people love about Geralt of Rivia? It’s not the rippling abs or the scars that tell a thousand stories. It isn’t the really cool glowing cat eyes. It’s not even the fact that he can slay huge monsters with relative ease and has someone as awesome as Yennefer caring for him. It’s the hair. That long, luxurious mane of greyish, silverish, whitish(?), hair.

Of course, you can’t just age people without powers or a time machine (if you have either, call us), so you’ll have to rely on a much simpler science. We’re talking hair spray. Get your special someone a can of Siberian White or Silver (or both to get that perfect shade). This would make a perfect gift for any cosplayers in your life who’ve been wanting to don a proper Witcher getup. So add it to your list and use it as a stocking stuffer.

Gwent

The Witcher 3 was an amazing game that housed another great game: Gwent. This easy to learn, difficult to master card game was one of the best parts of Wild Hunt and grew to such popularity that CD Projekt Red decided to sell decks for players to use in the real world. The thing is they were limited edition which may make them a bit difficult for you to find right now… but not impossible.

Online retailers such as eBay and Amazon still have some available. You can find a few packs for a reasonable price, and some for a rather hefty sum. If you do manage to get a hold of these, though, you’ll be sure to bring a smile to any Witcher in your life.

Is there anything here you’ll pick up, maybe even for yourself? Feel free to share your thoughts on these items and any gift ideas you may have in the comments below.
