4 Changes Destiny: Rise of Iron’s Archon’s Forge Needs

Archon’s Forge can be found out in the Plaguelands during your Rise of Iron adventures or during a Patrol, and while it’s by no means completely out of the way so that you wouldn’t find it on your own, it’s also not the easiest thing to just happen to work out what you’re doing and where you’re going with it.

We’re not saying move the whole thing, after all, it’s a pretty substantial part of that area of the Plaguelands, but it certainly feels like it needs some better signposting. There’s been a lot of confusion surrounding Archon’s Forge, but with the challenge and rewards that it provides it should be somewhere frequented more often by Guardians than it currently is. Do Archon’s Forge justice, Bungie, and shove it in our face a little more.

Visual Countdowns
Rise of Iron Archon's Forge

In order to get into Archon’s Forge, you’ll need some SIVA Offerings. Depending on which one you have and then enter into the computer, you’ll get a more or less challenging difficulty. For example, Fused SIVA Offerings have a recommended light level of 320, whereas Perfected SIVA Offerings come in at 360. A neat way to scale the difficulty of the challenge, sure, but it’s more what happens after entering them that’s cause Guardians a few troubles.

Once entering your offering, you only have a matter of seconds to jump on into the Forge. If you leave it too late you get locked out and you’ve wasted that offering. The same issue comes when using a Splicer Key to re-enter after being kicked out of the Forge if your teammates didn’t revive or you self-respawned. A visual countdown of how long we’ve got wouldn’t necessarily mean that the amount of time to jump in would have to be cut down, but would stop players from dawdling around or changing their equipment unaware that they’d already missed their chance.

Matchmaking

In its current form, Archon’s Forge can be a little bit of a lonely experience. This is because the Forge itself is its own instance and so visitors haven’t been predetermined if you run on into the area. While some may like to jump in and take on the challenges that Destiny provides on their own, Archon’s Forge is certainly not one that many Guardians are going to want to try on their own.

It’d probably require a bit of technical work on Bungie’s end, but fixing the matchmaking for Archon’s Forge would definitely help to make the arena feel a little more populated. With some backup, you’re definitely going to be spending a little longer in the Forge than you would on your own. And with more time in the arena comes better loot.

Limited SIVA Offerings

As we previously mentioned, SIVA offerings are how you gain access to Archon’s Forge, and so while this may not necessarily be directly linked to the mechanics or gameplay of Archon’s Forge itself, it’s still something related to it that certainly needs fixing. Currently, there’s no surefire way to get SIVA offerings. Instead, you simply have to head to the Plaguelands and hope that when you take down some Splicer enemies one will drop one. While it’s fair for rare loot to drop, what’s a little less fair is that you can currently only hold onto one offering at a time.

There’s a reason behind it, of course. Bungie has implemented this limitation to stop a Fireteam going in with a number of offerings each and grinding the crap out of it for a few hours and boosting their light levels to the level cap. It makes perfect sense, however, players shouldn’t be restricted from experiencing one of the coolest new parts of Rise of Iron. Hopefully, this limitation will be removed just as Commendations were in The Dark Below and Artifacts in The Taken King.
