After being on the market for almost three years, Disney Infinity’s cast of characters has grown exponentially. With the addition of the Star Wars franchise, it can be hard to pick which characters you want in your game world. Of course, if you have any favorites then by all means get them but this list will focus on some of the best characters (in terms of gameplay) released in Disney Infinity 3.0.
With Disney Infinity 3.0 there isn’t just the Star Wars franchise to choose from, you can pick up heroes from the movie Tron: Legacy, or even check out the adorable personalities from Pixar’s newest movie Inside Out. Let’s explore which figures are worth your hard earned money and will immediately be a great addition to your collection.
Mickey Mouse
Come on, like you didn’t see this coming? This is technically Mickey Mouse’s first true appearance in Disney Infinity. He was in the original game as Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey but ultimately fell flat with that appearance due to iffy ranged combat.
We now have him (and Minnie Mouse) in all of their original cartoon glory in Disney Infinity 3.0. He’s one of the game’s faster characters and is an absolute blast to play as. His range attacks are quick, along with his melee strikes. His super involves him calling his trusty partner Pluto to attack nearby enemies, which can come in handy in the Toy Box Takeover expansion. Plus if you’re lucky enough to snag King Mickey’s Power Disc — you can use Mickey’s Kingdom Hearts skin, how awesome is that?
Yoda
Easily one of the best new characters in Disney Infinity 3.0, and just like Mickey Mouse he’s small in stature but quick on the ground. His attacks are identical to the ones you saw in the Clone Wars and Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. With that simple fact, you know that Yoda is truly a force (get it?) to be reckoned with.
With his overwhelmingly powerful super move, Yoda can zip around the battlefield and hit opponents multiple times before pausing. Along with that, his lightsaber strikes are surprisingly brutal for a Jedi, dishing out tremendous amounts of damage to those pesky droids. Yoda is my go to character if something must be absolutely obliterated.
Darth Vader
Just recently this Star Wars villain was made available for purchase and he doesn’t disappoint. Plus, he has to be Disney Infinity 3.0’s darkest character to be featured in the game (Force Choke is pretty brutal after a combo). He’s tough to get get the hang of but once you do, he’s an absolute powerhouse of a character.
Starting off, Darth Vader is one of the slowest characters in the game. His walking animation is reminiscent of how he walked through the Death Star’s corridors. He makes up for it with raw power, if leveled properly most of his attacks can instantly defeat any foe. He’s also quite formidable with his ranged attack as well. Vader will hurl his lightsaber towards an opponent dealing incredible amounts of pain to anything getting hit by it. Plus his figure is one of the coolest looking of the bunch, don’t miss out on this classic.
Boba Fett
Immediately, everyone should recognize this Star Wars character. You probably also realize that he’s still incredibly hard to get a hold of. He’s a timed exclusive to Playstation users and will get a wide release sometime in 2016. If you’re really desperate for your Mandalorian fix you can either shell out $50 on eBay or check out Sabine who’s nearly just as cool.
What makes Boba Fett so special in Disney Infinity 3.0 has to be his toolset. Fett can climb hard to reach spots with his trusty jetpack, unleash a brutal grappling hook combo, and even blow Rebels apart with his rockets. Boba Fett’s EE-3 Carbine packs a wallop and can put the hurt on Sith and Jedi alike. He’s also one of the most fun characters to zip around Toy Box mode as well, just don’t get him near the Sarlacc Pit fixture that’s available to build.
Mulan
Mulan is right up there with Yoda when it comes to quickness and, like the Jedi, she can really lay down the pain effectively. The character model itself doesn’t quite bring up the legendary warrior status of Mulan, but her overall combat effectiveness makes up for the lackluster design.
Along with her quickness, Mulan has great range with her signature bo staff. She can easily hold back enemies making her one of the game’s best crowd control characters. Plus, her dodge with the bo staff is easily Disney Infinity 3.0’s best, the animation shows her spin the staff around as she strafes the level. Mulan is easily one of the top tier characters currently in the game. Do yourself a favor and don’t miss out on her.
Sam Flynn
Along with Sam Flynn, Quorra was also released and she plays very similar to Marvel’s Spider-Man. That being said, both characters are amazing but Flynn end up winning out for Tron supremacy.
First thing you’ll notice with the Tron: Legacy characters is their nimbleness. The way both characters move was a blast to watch and even more fun to actually play. They just look so cool with their costumes constantly flowing light down their suits. Besides their looks, Flynn has one of the best ranged attacks found in Disney Infinity. Flynn throws his Identity Disc towards opponents and will deal incredible amounts of damage to anything it smashes into. His combos are strong, technical and fierce, it’s surprising to see this game have so much depth in it’s gameplay and Sam Flynn represents that perfectly.
There’s still plenty of characters to choose from in Disney Infinity, these are just the best in Disney Infinity 3.0. There’s a plethora of Marvel, Pixar and other heroes and villains who are on equal grounds with these new characters (seeing Yoda vs Hulk in the Toy Box will never get old).
Do you guys agree with our list? Are there any Disney Infinity 3.0 characters you feel got left out in the cold? Do you prefer the older characters from previous games? Let us know in the comments below!
