After nearly 10 years from the first announcement, Square Enix held a Final Fantasy XV event today, where they revealed several new details about the game and game-related material. Some of them were expected, and some might actually come to surprise you. Here are all of them.

The event itself was hosted by Greg Miller and Tim Gettys, but the show called attention to some special people who helped create the game, such as the composer, Yoko Shimomura. One of them was Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy, who helped shaped a genre of gaming.

Stand By Me

After some introductions, the event jumped straight to the new trailer showcasing more of the game. We see combat, we see chocobos and we get to see the main characters out having fun. Not only is this a new trailer, but it is set to the cover of “Stand By Me,” made famous by Ben E. King.

The art of any Final Fantasy game is something to admire, especially if you have no artistic abilities. On stage they showed an art piece done by Yoshitaka Amano, a Japanese artist who had made the 2D piece above. After introducing the art piece, they went on to make this 2D piece into 3D work, slowly evolving the art before our eyes.

Final Fantasy XV Teams Up With Florence And The Machine

As the newest trailer for Final Fantasy XV played, one thing that could be heard was the sweet melody of “Stand By Me.” For some fans of this famous artist, they might have picked up on it automatically, but it was later revealed that Florence and The Machine performed the rendition and was working on the theme song for the game.

New Gameplay and a Titan

While going through some new gameplay trailers, a new enemy was shown and it looked somewhat familiar. In fact, it was even called a Titan. Of course, we saw more than just the titan, including some of Noctis’ combat and magic abilities in FFXV.

A Whole New World

We knew that this world was going to be big. It’s the backdrop of a road trip of a lifetime. Not only did we get to see some of that world throughout the trailers, but Square Enix introduced another video showcasing the many regions themselves. From large cities to the plains, every scene in the video above shows this world with great detail and sweeping shots.

Final Fantasy XV, The Anime

It was also annouced that Final Fantasy XV would be receiving a prequel anime about the main four characters, aimed at offering backstory on the main characters. All five episodes are being produced by A-1 pictures, the same people known for Sword Art Online. The episodes will be released for free on YouTube and as of right now, the first episode has been released.

Final Fantasy XV.. The Movie!?

A CGI movie titled Kingsglaive is set to release sometime in 2016 before Final Fantasy XV, and in it we’ll learn more about King Regis, the father of Noctis, and Lunafreya during the time Noctis is away. We are also shown a new character, Nyx, and some fight scenes. For now all we know is that Nyx is given a large task by the king, and will be a main protagonist in the film.

A Real-Life Car

Square Enix is partnering up with Audi to create a car similar to the one in the movie. Only one model will be made, and Square Enix announced no plans for releasing it via sale, giveaway, or otherwise.

A Star-Studded Voice Cast

After announcing the movie and the car, some of the Kingsglaive voice cast made an appearance on stage. Lena Heady, who stars in 300 and Game of Thrones, will voice Lunafreya. Her Game of Thrones co-star Sean Bell, who made a video for the audience, will be voicing King Regis. Later, Heady would introduce the voice actor for Nyx, Aaron Paul. Paul is known for his work on Breaking Bad and told everyone that he just started recording his lines yesterday.

A New Mobile Game

A new mobile game was annouced during the event, with Greg Miller and Tim Gettys comparing it to Blitzball, Triple Triad and Chocobo Racing. The game itself is a pinball game which can be found in a Final Fantasy XV diner. It can also be downloaded on iOS and Android phones later this year before the main game is set to release.

A Demo… Right Now!

A new demo released during the event, called Platinum Demo, in which players will play a young Noctis exploring his dreams. It’s unlike the previous demo, as players will not be playing a part of FFXV. In fact, this is to be a standalone chapter and will only have one summon available to unlock.

 Special Editions

FFXV Ultimate Collector's Edition

Square Enix revealed the Final Fantasy XV limited edition Deluxe Box Set and Ultimate Collector’s Edition. The Deluxe Set will have the game, a blu-ray copy of the full-length movie Kingsglaive, steelbook case and exclusive DLC items. For the Collector’s Edition, you’ll get everything in the Deluxe set plus an art book, soundtrack, a Play Arts figure of Noctis and more. There are only 30,000 available Collector’s Edition units, which cost $269.99.

And The Release Date Is..

The game was first annouced nearly 10 years ago as Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and now we have a for sure release date. No longer will fans hear the words ‘soon’ or ‘sometime soon’ and hopefully not ‘delayed’. The game is set to be released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Sept. 30, 2016.

Also, The Car Can Fly!
