Telltale’s upcoming mini-series of three episodes is going to focus on the machete-wielding badass, Michonne. The mini-series will explore the story of Michonne and what took her away from Rick, Ezekiel, and the rest of the group as well as her return.

The premiere episode finds Michonne aboard a sailing ship captained by Pete and his crew, as they look for survivors and supplies along the coast of Chesapeake Bay. During your voyage by boat, a desperate radio signal calling for help draws Michonne and the others to the scene of a horrific massacre. From this radio signal, the crew will be led to the floating survivor’s colony of Monroe, which may be inhabited by those responsible for the massacre.

By giving fans of the comic book series a chance to assume the role of Michonne during her time away from the gang, the game will hopefully answer a lot of the questions that have been floating around fans’ minds.

Uncover Michonne’s Mysterious Past

Telltale Game’s Michonne-centric mini-series will not only give fans of the comic book series a chance to explore exactly what happened during the time Michonne left Rick and the others, but will also help us to further understand her mysterious past.

Ever since she first appeared in both the TV shows and the comic books, Michonne has been a rather mysterious character. Everything from her lethal skills with her katana to her two “pet” walkers that she dragged around made her truly stand out from the rest of the group. While some of these questions have been answered, we still know very little about her past.

In the launch trailer for the first episode, we see Michonne being questioned by Pete over her past. From the trailer, we get an idea as to what the source of her troublesome past is, however, many more details are sure to be uncovered as the mini-series progresses.

Bad-Ass Katana Fun!

As we previously mentioned, Michonne has some serious skills when she’s wielding a katana. The Walking Dead: Michonne will allow you to wield her blade and feel like the badass you’ve always dreamed of being when reading the comics or watching her slice up some zombies in the TV show.

From what we can see from the launch trailer, there’s going to be plenty of opportunities to wield her katana and cut your way through enemies. The game doesn’t look like it’s going to hide from any gory details either, with decapitations looking like they’ll be making frequent appearances. Judging by a number of screenshots and the launch trailer you’ll be putting Michonne’s blade to good use on a number of occasions throughout the three episodes. Heads will quite literally roll in The Walking Dead: Michonne.

No Need to Know the Franchise

As part of a series of FAQ tweets on Telltale Games’ Twitter account, those who were wondering if you’ll need to have played the two previous seasons got their answer; Michonne’s story is her’s and her’s alone and won’t be linked into Lee and Clem’s at all.

Telltale Games was also quick to point out that no reading, watching, or playing of anything The Walking Dead related is required in order to enjoy Michonne’s mini-series. Of course, fans of the franchise will have a better grasp of the character and what makes her tick, but with the game largely focusing on previously unexplored events, this may be a great place for newcomers to start..

Short and Sweet

Among a couple of larger titles either releasing on the same day (Far Cry Primal, PvZ: Garden Warfare 2) or releasing soon, The Walking Dead: Michonne’s episodes are a great way to take a break from these more demanding games and enjoy something a little lighter.

With the first episode expected to be clocking in around the ninety-minute mark and all three of the episodes releasing in February, March and April respectively, the experience to be had will be short and sweet. Not every game has to be one that goes on for hours on end, just as Tales from the Borderlands and, more recently, Firewatch have proven.

The whole season can be picked up for $14.99. If you’ve ever been curious about the episodic series that Telltale Games are notorious for, or you’re just a huge The Walking Dead fan, this may be a great game to pick up amid the larger titles.
