EA FC’s reveal livestream confirmed that, in line with leaks surrounding EA Sports’ brand new football simulation series, the Ultimate Edition will launch a week before the Standard Edition. There was no word on prices, but they have been leaked and would put the FC as the most expensive iteration from EA yet.
For the first time in decades, the new football season wonโt bring a new FIFA video game. Instead, weโll receive the first installment of the EA Sports FC series.
Much of the game, like Ultimate Team, Career Mode and official league licenses, will transition over. The exact shape of the title remains to be seen but, with its launch window approaching, leaks have started to find their way out into the public domain.ย
Release Date
In the EAFC reveal stream on July 13, EA confirmed that the Ultimate Edition will release on 22 September 2023.
The worldwide launch of the standard editions is set to be 29 September 2023. It means rumors of a week’s early access for those choosing the Ultimate Edition was accurate.
No word on prices came with the reveal, but fans now know exactly when they’ll be able to get their hands on EA FC.
EA Sports FC Prices Allegedly Leaked
July 6 saw a series of leaks relating to the gameโs launch price, which purportedly reveal that it will be more expensive than any FIFA installment.
Reputable leaker Donk was among those to share the news, which revealed the following prices for the game:ย
- Standard Edition (PC / Old Gen Consoles): โฌ69.99 / $69.99 / ยฃ59.99
- Standard Edition (New Gen Consoles): โฌ79.99 / $79.99 / ยฃ69.99
- Ultimate Edition (PC / Old Gen Consoles): โฌ99.99 / $99.99 / ยฃ89.99
- Ultimate Edition (New Gen Consoles): โฌ109.99 / $109.99 / ยฃ99.99
The new generation console versions will each be compatible with older consoles too. That means if you purchase the PS5 version, it should be playable on PS4 as well. The same applies to Xbox consoles.ย
Typically, FIFA installments come in at around ยฃ60 for the base Standard versions. While thatโs still true, the Ultimate Edition in particular has seen a ยฃ10 / $10 / โฌ10 increase, with the FIFA 23 Ultimate Editions for next generation consoles coming in at โฌ99.99 / $99.99 / ยฃ89.99.ย
The alleged increase in prices, can be put down to real life currency fluctuations as well, which have caused EA to increase in-game currency prices up as well.ย
Thereโs also the ability to get the game via EA Play Pro, EAโs subscription service. Itโs not confirmed right now whether the game will be fully available for free via EA Play Pro.
