As the title suggest, The Sims 4’s latest expansion takes your Sims out of the suburbs and places them right in the middle of the bustling city of San Myshuno. With a number of unique neighborhoods to choose from, you’ll be able to find the perfect vibe for your Sims.

There’s an Arts Quarter perfect for those who wish to get creative and converse with like-minded people, or maybe the Fashion District with its Karaoke Bars are a little more your jam. There’s also a Spice Market, and of course, Uptown, the district your Sims will commute to and from every day for work. The Sims 4: City Living also introduces a new radio station called Cultural, perfect for your new city life.

Festivals and Activities

As we previously eluded to, the city of San Myshuno isn’t just a change of scenery for your Sims; there’s plenty of new interesting activities going on all around them. Most notable are the festivals which see street performers and tourists come bustling into the city. What’s more, there’s a number of competitions your Sims can enter too, just in case you’re feeling lucky.

If you’re interested in courting another Sim, you may want to take them to the Romance Festival, or maybe your Sim just wants to pick up some sweet new comics and figures at the Geekcon. There are five different festivals that can randomly come to your city, meaning there’s always something a little different to occupy your Sim’s free time.

Apartment Livin’

You may be used to living the sweet life in the suburbs in your big house, but with city living also comes a shrinking in your living space. The Sims 4: City Living will see your Sims finding their own apartment to design and decorate exactly how they want. Of course, living in an apartment isn’t always ideal. While you can invite your friends round for a bit of co-op gaming after a night down at the Karaoke Bar, much-needed early nights can be interrupted by your neighbors throwing parties until the early hours. How you deal with these situations is up to you: go out and party all night, or go and complain about the noise?

Strike up a good relationship with your neighbors and you may even give them a key to your place so they can pop by whenever. However, choosing the right apartment for your Sims isn’t easy. You’ll need to factor in potential problems such as pests or power outages if you’re going to live in the perfect starter apartment.

Building Limitations

You may be thinking that ultimately, you can just pick any apartment, knock down any wall or extend any room you want and make it the largest, most luxurious apartment there has ever been. Unfortunately, your landlord isn’t going to be pleased about this and so finding the right apartment initially is incredibly important if you’re to achieve your ultimate apartment goals.

Don’t worry though, as you become more successful in The Sims 4: City Living and start to get a bit of a name for yourself in Uptown, you’ll start moving your way up the apartment food chain. Eventually, you’ll be living it up in the top floor penthouse with ample room for any decoration, furniture, or lifestyle you want to live. Heck, you can even turn your penthouse into a rooftop restaurant or any other venue should it take your fancy.

Careers

The metropolitan life brings with it a few new careers for your Sims to pursue in San Myshuno. Whether you think you’ve got what it takes to change things for the better as a Politician, consider yourself a solid Critic, or just want to make use of the tools technology gave you and delve into Social Media, there’s something for everyone in the big city. Each career also has its own assignments, which see your Sims head out of the office and do something a little different. You may even have to head out of the city for certain work assignments.

As you continue to impress and refine your skills in each role, you’ll climb the career ladder and start to bring in the big bucks. As you start to reach the top of the career ladder, that penthouse you were longing for will finally be within your grasp.

New Items

Two of the key new items highlighted in The Sims 4: City Living are the basketball hoop and the games console. Fitting in with typical city living, your Sims will be able to head out onto the court and practice all different types of shooting on their own or challenge their friends to a game. Once the game’s all over and the sun begins to set, your Sims can head back to their apartment, turn on the console and play a game from a variety of genres both on their own or against friends and family. There’s also a Hookah Pipe

These are just two of the items highlighted as coming to The Sims 4: City Living, but give a good idea as to the types of items you can expect to be added for your new life in the city.
