How to Get the Upgraded Master Sword in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Recommended Videos

Leading up to the release of The Master Trials, the first DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it was shared that the Mater Sword would be getting an interesting upgrade worthy of its name. Now that the DLC is available, players are finally able to obtain that upgraded weapon, though it’s far from easy. Players will have to complete the Trial of the Sword, a gauntlet of 45 levels filled with items, weapons, armor, and different layouts of weapons for you to collect and make use of. You’ll definitely want to collect everything you can as you’re not allowed to bring any armor or weapons into the trial with you (talk about tough).

In order to start the Trial of the Sword, you’ll need to have obtained the regular Master Sword already (which we’ve guided for you here). If you have it already, just return to the pedestal you pulled it out from and place it back in. This not only unlocks the trial, but also ensures that you can’t use this powerful weapon to cheat. Now just make your way through all 45 levels and when it’s all done the Sword Sage will upgrade the weapon, giving you an enhanced Master Sword.

What does the enhanced version do exactly? It allows you to use the weapon’s full power at all times, not only against Calamity enemies. Yup, that means 60 damage with all swings, not too shabby, huh? Of course, you deserve it after surviving the rigorous gauntlet Nintendo has thrown at you.
