Xbox One DVR: How to Record for Longer

How to Record for Longer on Xbox One DVR

Recommended Videos

The Xbox One and PS4 both brought a DVR feature to the table when they released back in 2013. This enables players to record chunks of their gameplay retrospectively, as well as live. Of course, because the hard drives on our systems aren’t huge, and video files can take up a lot of space, Microsoft actually imposed a five minute limit to the amount of time you can record using the Xbox One DVR.

There was a method that enabled players to somehow glitch the Xbox One DVR into recording for longer with the Snap function, however, this is no longer available. That doesn’t mean that you can’t record clips longer than five minutes on the Xbox One, though. You just have to use a bit of a work around.

The easiest way is to sign up for a Twitch account and link it up to your console. Instructions on how to do this can be found here. Once you’ve done that, you’ll simply want to jump into Settings > Channel and Videos, and then enable the Archive Broadcasts option. Then, simply stream as you play and your gameplay will be recorded, albeit divided up into 15-minute segments. Then, you can download these for editing or you can post them right onto YouTube.

That’s all you need to know to record for longer on Xbox One. For more, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
