Downloading WoW Classic

If you’re familiar at all with Blizzard Entertainment and their PC gaming space, you probably already know that you’re going to need a Battle.net account. Battle.net is their proprietary online service and it’s basically a launch pad for their games.

Because WoW Classic is a Blizzard property, Battle.net is the only way to get in.

World of Warcraft Classic WoW Blizzard

To get into WoW Classic, you’ll need access to the game through the Battle.net desktop app. This requires that you make an account (for free).

Open the Battle.net desktop app and select World of Warcraft from the side menu. Here, you’ll see there is a Version menu. In this menu, you’ll see World of Warcraft Classic. Select that.

If you have have just one World of Warcraft account, you’ll be prompted to install the Classic version of the game. If you have multiple accounts, you’ll be brought to an Account menu where you must select the account for Classic.

If you don’t have an account, you’ll need to make one.

Select the active account you wish to play Classic with. Click the install button that pops up next and a progress bar will appear. When you can play the game, this progress bar will let you know.

Once the installation is complete, click the Play button and hop on in.

It’s important to know that as with any World of Warcraft account, to play Classic, you’re going to need to subscribe. That costs $15 a month.

Here’s a step by step breakdown to show you how to get in

  1. Download the Battle.net desktop app.

    Simply go to Battle.net and download the app.

  2. Select the Classic version under the Version menu for World of Warcraft.

    In the Battle.net desktop app, select World of Warcraft’s Version menu and select Classic.

  3. Select your account.

    Select the account you wish to use.

  4. Install the game.

    Install the game and hop in.
