Mojang and Microsoft have today announced the Minecraft: The Wild update release date, and in this guide, we’ll explain when it’ll be hitting your PC, consoles, and mobile devices, as well as what you can expect it to bring when it does arrive.
Minecraft The Wild Update Release Date
The Wild update will come to Minecraft on June 7 to all platforms — Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, Windows, Minecraft: Java Edition on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
The announcement was confirmed via a blog post on the official Minecraft website, and will introduce new biomes, mobs, and blocks to your overworlds.
What’s New in The Wild Update?
- Two New Biomes:
- The Deep Dark: This biome will lie far below the surface, and will require players to find the base of a cave and start digging down. Be warned though, as this biome is home to just one mob called The Shrieker, and if you set one off, you’ll only have until the fourth shriek to get out before you come face-to-face with the mob. There’s also a new ‘Sculk Block’ type which will require you to use a Silk Touch pickaxe to mine.
- Mangrove Swamp: This biome is exactly what it sounds like, a massive swamp filled with Mangrove trees which also bring a new type of wood to build with, alongside a new Mud block.
- Boats with Chests: A relatively straightforward addition but one that’s going to come in incredibly handy for when you want to go exploring across the seas. This will allow you to store anything you find on your adventure, without having to clog up your inventory with it.
- New Mobs:
- Warden: The Warden can be found in the Deep Dark biome, but there’s little else known about this mob at the time, other than you’ll want to be incredibly stealthy if you want to stand a good chance of surviving your encounter.
- Allay: The Allay is a mob that was voted into the game during last year’s Minecraft Live. It’s a blue creature that will fly through the skies of your game, help you collect items, and can dance, too. What’s not to love?
- Frog: A new, adorable mob comes in the form of the frog. These can be used to create froglight blocks if it attacks magma cubes, but you can feed it tiny slimes if you just want to befriend it and not… yanno, ignite its insides.
- Tadpole: The Frog also has a baby version of itself in the form of the Tadpole. This will eventually grow into a Frog, but just looks a little different in the meantime. Few other details about this mob have been shared at this time.
That sums up all you need to know about when the Minecraft: The Wild update releases on all platforms. Now, get prepared for the new adventures that lay in store for you in your blocky world.
