How to Beat the Vulcan Procust (Versus Ausbruch Mission) in Valkyria Chronicles 4

With Valkyria Chronicles 4 returning to the series’ tactical roots, you can expect quite a few challenging battles. The newest game certainly doesn’t disappoint in the difficulty department, as it consistently throws unique objectives and gimmicks at you, on top of very powerful boss enemies. One such enemy in Valkyria Chronicles 4 is the Vulcan Procust, a massive armored tank piloted by Klaus Walz, one of the game’s major villains, that you’ll take on multiple times throughout the game. In the mission Versus Ausbruch near the end of the game, you have one final showdown with Klaus and the Vulcan Procust. This can be a terribly tough battle if you aren’t prepared, especially since you’ll have to contend with the Valkyria at the same time. We’ll help walk you through one of the best ways of taking down the Vulcan Procust, and clearing the Versus Ausbruch mission.

At the start of battle, make sure you deploy Dan and the APC and all of your Leader units so you have more CP to use and you’ll have an easier time moving all of your units in one turn. Also, make sure to deploy at least one Lancer and a Grenadier that has a weapon to damage tanks. You might also want to consider deploying one or two units less than the max to make this easier. This mission has a unique objective as all you need to do is defeat the Vulcan Procust and you don’t have to worry about your main base being captured at all. At the start of your battle divert all of your forces to the left and down the ice, use the Haffen and any Lancer you have to blow away the enemy tanks, and then use scouts and the APC to forge ahead.

Basically what you want to do is loop all of your forces left, down, and then to the base at the bottom of the map. Capture it. Once you’ve done that, keep the Hafen and an Engineer by the gap in the ice leading to the base you just captured. If the Hafen is in sight, the Vulcan Procust will generally focus its fire on your tank, so use it as a distraction. Use Shocktroopers or Scouts to blitz the units on the right side of the map and fight your way up, then push your Lancers and Grenadiers onto the High Ground that you’ll see named near the bottom right of the map. Be careful of when the Vulcan Procust and the Valkyria link up for a combo attack, and make sure to pull all of your units (including the Hafen) out of its red range before your turn ends.

Now with everything in place, what you need to do is use the Hafen to lure the Vulcan Procust near the High Ground, then slam into the blue ragnite engine on the enemy tank with your Grenadiers and Lancers. You can use the Demolition Boost All order to bump up the damage all of your units cause to enemy tanks, and once everything is in place you should be able to take down the Vulcan Procust in a few turns. Just make sure to keep a couple Engineers handy in case the Valkyria kills anyone, or you need to repair the Hafen. Alternatively, you can use orders to heal and do repairs, but it’ll take up CP.

That’s all you need to know about beating the Vulcan Procust in the Versus Ausbruch mission of Valkyria Chronicles 4. For even more tips, tricks, and guides on Valkyria Chronicles 4, make sure to search Twinfinite or take a look at our expansive wiki.
