How to Unlock Hidden Potential in Valkyria Chronicles 4

Valkyria Chronicles 4 brings the series back to its roots. You’re back in the role of a commander, leading a squad through battle after battle. You choose where they go and what they do. And, yes, individual squad members you can recruit and use are back once again. Each one has their own quirks that makes each unique. Hidden Potential is something that can really set a squaddie apart from the rest. Here’s how to unlock Hidden Potential in Valkyria Chronicles 4.

First and foremost, while characters have hidden potentials to start with, we have to talk about how to get more of them. There’s two ways to do this.

One is by leveling up your classes over in the Training section of the Headquarters tab. Sometimes when you level up a class, you’ll get a new hidden potential unlocked. The bar will actually tell you when this is about to happen, in case you’d rather focus your EXP over to that class in order to get it. Once it’s unlocked for that class, it will be unlocked for all soldiers of that class. For example, if you get something for Shocktroopers, Raz will have that.

The second way is by completing Squad Stories in Valkyria Chronicles 4. Sometimes, you’ll garner a reward in the form of a hidden potential.

Okay, now that you know how to get them, we can talk about how they actually trigger during battle. These are specific to the potential itself. If you have the Loner potential, it will trigger positively if you’re away from the rest of your squad. If you’re near them, though, you’ll get a negative buff because you’re a loner and would rather be alone.

That’s how all others work in Valkyria Chronicles 4. They get triggered based on something that happens and they’ll either be positive or negative for your soldier.

That’s it, though! That’s how you unlock hidden potential in Valkyria Chronicles 4. If you need more help with the game, check out our wiki. It’s massive and constantly being updated and changed up. If you’d rather ask, go ahead and do so in the comments below! We’ll try our best to answer you.
