Using amiibo in Splatoon 2

Recommended Videos

Like most Nintendo games currently available on the Switch, Splatoon 2 does come with amiibo support to help make your time in the game a little bit easier. Primarily, the amiibo can be used for recording and storing your gear loadouts, making it easier for you to swap between loadouts in between matches.

To use the amiibo, press the + button on the Switch to bring up the main menu, and go all the way to the last tab on the right. Under the Other tab, you’ll be able to access the separate amiibo tab with the R button. From here, click on the amiibo option, and you’ll be prompted to select your desired loadouts for saving. Now, whenever you want to switch loadouts, but don’t want to go through the hassle of re-equipping everything through the menu system, you can simply scan your little figure to quickly get geared up.

This is especially useful if you’re going to play the game on someone’s console, and want to use your own loadouts and unlocked weapons instead.

More About Splatoon 2

Splatoon 2 is the follow-up to Splatoon, the inky shooter game released on the Wii U two years ago. Take control of a kid, splat your enemies with ink, and transform into a squid whenever you feel like it.
