There are a good handful of different storylines to follow in Elden Ring. One of them, Volcano Manor, features a series of objectives to fight NPCs, but is it worth it? We’re here to tell you if you should join the Volcano Manor in Elden Ring or not.
Should You Join Elden Ring’s Volcano Manor?
There’s a very simple answer here. Yes, you should certainly join the Volcano Manor covenant. Unlike previous FromSoft games, there isn’t any clash between the covenants, so you can join whatever you like without any consequences. On top of that, there aren’t any negatives for tying yourself to this covenant, so there’s no reason to not join.
Completing the questline, however, is a different story. The questline to Volcano Manor isn’t all that spectacular. You are tasked with eliminating a few NPCs found all over the map by invading their worlds like you would a normal player. You can get decent gear from these invasions, but nothing incredibly special.
The main reward is that you get an easy and direct shortcut to the main boss of this area, Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy. Normally, you would have to beat the Godskin Noble and eventually make your way to the God-Devouring Serpent and Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy fight. By cleaning up the quest NPCs, you can be instantly teleported to the mist gate before the boss, cutting out a few frustrating clusters of enemies and the whole optional boss fight.
Considering one NPC is in the Mountaintop of the Giants, you would most likely be strong enough by that point to just beat the Godskin Noble and make it to Rykard yourself, rendering the rigmarole of unlocking the shortcut slightly redundant.
Also, just visiting the Volcano Manor is worth it, because you can obtain the Ghiza’s Wheel weapon.
